PLASTIC PLASTIC EVERYWHERE!
EXACTLY!
Let's face it, we are surrounded by plastic. It's in, on, and around EVERYTHING. So we need to work extra hard to keep it out of our soil cycle. In a 10-minute walk around my home garden and Norcross Discovery Garden Park—without looking very hard—I collected these images, and more!
It's second nature anymore not to snuff out a butt in a planter, right? We need to be just as vigilant with the waste plastic we introduce into the garden—much of it without even realizing we're doing it.
COMPOST: There's always plenty of plastic in the compost bin. Everything from plant labels to pot wrappers and hangers, and let's not forget the little labels that, for some reason, are on most of the produce we buy.
When you add degradables to the compost (at home and in the Norcross garden), ensure that you are not introducing yet another piece of plastic to the medium that will be growing your food!

BEDS AND GROUNDS: We're only human, and it's all too easy to let bits of plastic collect in our garden environment. Minimize your "plastic footprint" by picking up whatever you may see, in your bed, others' beds, and on the grounds at large.
